The above IS a monitoring infrastructure.

Update 2: I'm also wondering if there is a solution using built-in Windows tools and Azure AD. Ideally it would be a SaaS product like New Relic but for PCs (not web apps) and free for less than 50 computers. Update: I'm looking for a solution that doesn't require VPN tunnels and ideally no server that I also need to maintain. I've read about nagios, what's up gold, spiceworks, pagerduty, uptime robot and others but not sure if any of those are simple enough to do what I mentioned above. We have static IPs at most locations and thus I could ping the SonicWalls but I was hoping for an agent app.

This is simple enough for us to get an idea of the problem but ideally we would want to know if the ISP is having connection problems, the SonicWall SOHO is having problems or the PC is down. Ideally we would get an alert (via Slack would be ideal) if a location is offline for more than 30 minutes so we can send out tech out. The server would then show a chart of each location and their corresponding historic uptime.

I would like to install a small systray app on one PC at each location that simply verifies the computer is online (say once every 5 minutes) and sends the log to a server. Occasionally our store managers complain about the "internet not working". We use various business grade cable and fiber ISPs at each location. They don't have to be completed on a certain holiday. Our company has about 15 small stores with two Windows 7 PCs (and two VoIP phones) at each location behind a SonicWall SOHO. In this series, we call out current holidays and give you the chance to earn the monthly SpiceQuest badge!

Spark! Pro series – 1st August 2022 Spiceworks Originals.I do not even want to think about the number of sales calls I am going to get in the next few days because I have "tried" a bunch of tools. I guess i need something that has a local app that calls home or some such in order to let the monitor know that the site is alive. For $5 a month though I could install the server app and I guess make a monitor for it and just not use the other monitors. The paid version looks to have a server monitoring tool, but I do not need that. The free version is obviously just http monitoring, no problem. How can they tell me if the internet is down if there is a blackhole on the inbound firewall? No pings, no port forwarding to web server, nothing.

This looks like a good tool, but will not work in this situation directly I think. Have all of our locations monitored therein. We are using and are quite happy with their efficiency on the free model (30 mins scans).
